Abu Baker’s Mission to Elevate Nursing
“Nursing is the heart of patient care. I want to change how the world sees it.”
Abu Baker, a nursing student at Semmelweis University, is on a mission to redefine nursing as a respected, leadership-driven profession. His dream? To build an institute that blends top-tier education with empathy, research, and advocacy.

Hungary gave him more than a degree—it gave him a global network, lifelong friendships, and a vision for change. He plans to stay connected through alumni events and hopes to return to Hungary to keep building bridges.
Levente’s Journey Through Hungarian and Medicine
“I didn’t just study medicine—I reconnected with my roots.”
Levente, a Canadian-Hungarian student at the University of Pécs, chose to study medicine in Hungarian—a bold move that deepened both his academic and cultural experience.

As a teaching assistant in both English and Hungarian, he learned to navigate grammar quirks and medical terminology across languages. Volunteering at the Sziget Festival’s medical tent taught him how to communicate under pressure—summarising symptoms, decoding slurred speech, and applying language skills in real-world clinical settings.
Living in Pécs helped Levente grow fluent and confident. He reconnected with relatives, explored Budapest with family, and embraced his heritage. “It’s a good feeling when people are surprised I didn’t grow up here,” he says. “I’m proud to use Hungarian—not just in class, but in life.”
