Hungary celebrated the International Day of Yoga
Ganga-Danube Cultural Festival

On 21st of June we annually celebrate the International Day of Yoga everywhere in the world since 2015. On this day we celebrate global health, harmony, peace and yoga’s effect on our lifestyle with the aim of calling attention to the importance of mental and physical health.

The International yoga day was first organized in 2015 in collaboration with the Embassy of India as well as Hungarian yoga schools to introduce healthy lifestyle and the importance of this Indian tradition to the audience. Several Hungarian universities and students joined the initiation to raise awareness.

This year the 4th International yoga day was celebrated as part of the 3d Ganga-Danube Festival in twenty-one cities of Hungary, including Eger, Győr, Debrecen, Veszprém and other university towns on 23 and 24 of June. Participants had the chance to take part in music and dance programs, public yoga classes, watch Bollywood movies and get acquainted with Indian culture. Indian experts were invited for the programs throughout the country to showcase this rich culture, including the ancient Ayurvedic medicine.

Széchenyi István University (Győr) hosted the event as internationalization and receiving Stipendium Hungaricum students from India is a significant part of the university’s activity.
