The rapidly growing field of self-driving vehicles completely changes the automotive industry, transportation, and our everyday lives too. It also has major effects on other industry branches, such as information technology, smart infrastructure, or urban planning.
As autonomous driving functions are swiftly developing, new testing and validation methods thus dedicated proving grounds are necessary. The ZalaZONE Automotive Proving Ground is the largest car testing facility in Central Europe. Located outside the city of Zalaegerszeg in Hungary, it is a 265-hectare high-tech test track for conventional, electric, and automated vehicles. The proving ground is an optimal test environment for future cars and their communication technologies and also serves as a hub for innovation activities, joint research programs with strategic university partners.
In his presentation, Prof. Szalay will give an insight into the recent developments and challenges of the self-driving vehicle industry. He will also introduce you to the development of the ZalaZONE test track, and will explain how this project brings together engineering knowledge, innovation, university research, and the expertise of top industry players.
