The visit in China was the second time in this year where the representatives of the Hungarian institutions introduced their services. At this time TPF co-organised the Chinese-Hungarian Higher Education Forum with the Consulate General on 27 October. Nineteen representatives attended the event from fourteen Chinese institutions. The Forum was opened by Levente Horváth, Consul General emphasizing the importance of such events where real discussions and meetings could be realized. It was followed by the presentation of Lívia Szentmártoni, Consul for Culture and Education about the cooperation between China and Hungary in the field of education. More presentations were held about already existing best practises. The Forum ended with a marketplace session, where all Chinese participants could have the opportunity to discuss cooperation possibilities with the Hungarian institutions.
The second event – China Education Expo in Shanghai – was focused on student recruitment with the aim of introducing Hungary as a study destination between 29-30 October. Among 34 national pavilions Tempus Public Foundation provided the ‘Study in Hungary’ booth for the Hungarian delegation. Hungary could be competitive as a small European country for Chinese students, because it provides cheaper, but still high-quality higher education and loads of English language courses in different fields. The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme has also caught the Chinese students’ attention providing tuition-free education with monthly stipend, free dormitory place and other advantages for them to study in Hungary. It was a great feeling to listen to some Chinese students speaking in Hungarian in Shanghai.
The delegation was represented by the following universities:
Corvinus University of Budapest,
Eötvös Loránd University
Eszterházy Károly University
Pannon University
Semmelweis University
Szent István University
University of Debrecen
University of Pécs
At the China Education Expo (CEE), the delegation was supplemented by Central European University.
