European Universities Games Officially Opened
The European Universities Games (EUG) is one of the greatest multisport events in the world, in which athletes of European universities compete, representing their higher education institutions. The event was held in even-numbered years in university cities capable, in terms of infrastructure and organisational background, of hosting competitions for all 17 sports involved in the EUG.
Hungary was represented at the event by 22 higher education institutions, including the two host universities. Over 550 Hungarian athletes competed in all the 17 sports, forming the largest delegation. Corvinus basketball players achieved a great feat at the European University Games
Corvinus’ 3x3 basketball team has qualified from a very strong group at the tournament in Debrecen.
With all the players practically making their debut in the 3×3 section, Corvinus students were the only Hungarian team from their group to win and go through at the 3×3 basketball tournament of the European University Games in Debrecen. READ MORE
101 athletes represented the University of Pécs at the European University Games
This year, the University of Pécs (UP) participated with a record 101 sportsmen in the international event, competing in 11 sports (table tennis, B33 basketball, futsal, judo, karate, handball, kick-boxing, chess, taekwondo, badminton, water polo), 13 teams, 83 athletes and 18 team leaders and coaches for the 2024 competition.
The backbone of the team was made up of table tennis, figure skating and water polo athletes who medalled at last year's European University Championships. READ MORE
