Summary of the webinar:
Last year a team of students and researchers from the Pázmány Péter Catholic University won a prestigious prize at the Cybathlon competition, which is a global contest, where teams develop assistive technologies for people with disabilities. The “EyeRider” team designed a mobile app that can assist people with eyesight impairment in everyday situations. At the webinar associate professor, Kristóf Iván who was the coordinator of the project will present their award-winning development, and will also give you an insight into how competitions like Cybathlon, which is considered to be the Formula 1 of assistive technologies, can facilitate innovation and technological advancement. You will also learn about other projects of the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics at Pázmány University which intend to improve life quality by combining information technology, health sciences and engineering.
About the presenter:
Iván Kristóf earned his MSc in bioengineering in 2002 from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and obtained his PhD in info-bionics at Pázmány Péter Catholic University. In 2006 and 2012, he was a visiting researcher at the University of Minnesota and the University of California, Berkeley. From 2016 to 2022, he was the dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University. His research focuses on biomicrofluidics, miniaturization of biomedical tests, and brain-computer interfaces for disability rehabilitation and inclusion.
