Apor Vilmos Catholic College is one of the oldest teacher training colleges in Hungary with a focus on Early Childhood Education and Care. Apor is committed to providing quality education in Hungarian on two campuses located in Vác and Budapest. It has several research groups to advance important educational matters. The Atypical Development Methodology Centre has recently won a two-year Erasmus+ grant to investigate cognitive coaching for needs-based pedagogies in teacher training, in cooperation with researchers from Austria, Finland, and Romania. The role model and namesake of the College is Vilmos Apor, the martyred bishop beatified in 1997, who, by his social sensitivity in his life and by saving the lives of women and children in his martyrdom in 1945, became a true witness of Christ.
Training fields encompass BA programmes in teacher education, social science, religious studies and MA programmes in educational science and social pedagogy, and mental health and community development.
Although Apor offers all courses in Hungarian to date, it also organises an Erasmus+ semester in English for international students every year.
