The scholarship programme was established by the Hungarian Government for those international students who have excellent academic track record. As a scholarship holder you can focus on your academic advancement, as all your tuition fees are covered during your university studies.
Depending on your study programme and level, your monthly stipend may also change as follows:
- If you apply for non-degree, bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s levels or postgraduate specialist training courses, you can get a monthly amount of HUF 43,700 (cca EUR 120) contribution to the living expenses in Hungary, for 12 months a year, until the completion of your studies.
- If you apply for doctoral level, the monthly amount of scholarship is HUF 140,000 (cca EUR 390) for the first phase of your education (for 4 semesters) and HUF 180,000 (cca EUR 500) for the second phase (4 semesters ) – for 12 months a year, until the completion of your studies. For more details, check out section 1.2.1. in the Call for application for doctoral programmes.
In all study levels, the scholarship provides free dormitory place or a contribution of HUF 40,000/ month to the accommodation costs for the whole duration of the scholarship period. , Please note, that if you live in a rented apartment, this HUF 40,000/ month contribution may not cover the full amount of your rental costs.
Finally, the scholarship includes health care services according to the relevant Hungarian legislation (Act LXXX of 1997, national health insurance card) and supplementary medical insurance for up to HUF 65,000 (cca EUR 275) a year/person.
Bear in mind that these provisions are only a contribution to the living expenses of the Scholarship Holders, which also means that they do not fully cover all the costs of living. If you become a scholarship holder, you need to add your own financial resources to cover all living expenses in Hungary. If you need information about the expected living costs both in Hungary and in the city that you wish to live in before applying, our Cost of Living Calculator will be especially useful for you!
