CWUR Ranking: University of Pécs among the elite of higher education

The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) has published its latest 2014 ranking list. The University of Pécs demanded a place for itself among the world’s thousand top universities as well. The 862th place means that the UP keeps its position and therefore still belongs to the leading 4% of international higher education institutions worldwide.

Harvard, Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology took the top three places on the latest global ranking list published by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). Results are based on the performance of eight criteria, including the quality of education and faculty, the number of alumni employed as CEO-s around the world, the number of publications and research papers appearing in highly-influential journals, citation rates, broad impact measured by the institutional h-Index, and the number of international patents.

Dr. Kálmán Tóth, vice rector for science and innovation of the UP emphasized: "The fact that our university belongs to the world's leading higher education institutions is a result we all can be proud of - it applies to all our lecturers, researchers, former and current students.
However, I firmly believe that the hidden potentials of the University of Pécs are not fully exploited by this result. For instance, the establishment of the Szentágothai Research Centre clearly increased the number of our international patents. This is an important factor in the CWUR ranking as well. In the upcoming period we can achieve a significant progress in this area; as from now on, besides our researchers' preparedness and knowledge the proper infrastructure is available as well."
