Budapest is among the best ones

The annually published „QS Best Student Cities” ranking shows the best destinations for international students. Based on this year’s new list, the top cities are London, Tokyo and Melbourne; Budapest scored the highest in the „Affordability” category.

The participating cities must have a population of over 250 000 and at least two universities. During the rankings the indicators weighted equally within each category. The categories are the followingones: University Rankings, Student Mix, Desirability, Employer Activity and Affordability, and since 2017 the Student View also appears as a new category, based on a survey of students and fresh graduates around the world.

The listing has an own ranking method, each indicator is converted into an ordinal, this gives the final, overall scores. Out of 120 cities around the world, Budapest got the 43th place and it is consistently ranked as one of the world’s most livable cities, but this year  the Hungarian capital scored the highest in this category thanks to the favorable costs of living.

Budapest is indeed a charming destination with its beautiful architecture, fascinating history and absolutely tasty cuisine. Students love the atmosphere, the great student life and the relaxing opportunities such as the thermal baths.

Budapest is home to more than 35 higher education institutions (three of them also appear in the QS World University Ranking) and strong in the fields of arts, entertainment, fashion, education, finance and sport. The city offers many opportunities for international students not only to study in english but in other popular languages too.
