Apply now for the summer programs of ELTE!

ELTE is now offering two types of summer university programs for students throughout the country who wish to spend their summer in a multicultural environment and are eager to broaden their knowledge in different fields such as culture, social sciences or Hungarian language.

As the leading research university in Hungary ELTE is dedicated to develop wide-ranging study programs for both Hungarian and international students, facilitating the international involvement and networking of teaching and research staff, and stimulating students efficiently to participate in mobility programs. To fulfil these aims and priorities the university organizes a summer program to Hungarian as well as international students between 13-19 August 2018.

The summer university comprises several interdisciplinary courses for students interested in law, cultural studies, social sciences and related fields. Language of the summer university is English. 

Topics of courses:

  • TRANSNATIONAL ASPECTS OF LAW (law studies)
  • SOCIAL PROBLEMS AND DISCRIMINATION - fieldwork (social sciences and cultural studies)

The course fee for one week: 300 EUR but they provide an early bird discount (-10% = 270 EUR) for those who apply before the 31st of May, 2018.

Covered by fee: 30 classes (45-minute-long), 4 lectures (90-minute-long) on Hungarian culture, history and traditions, related course materials, welcome package, one-day excursion outside of Budapest.

Not included in the fee: travel and visa costs, health insurance, accommodation, meals, social activities and organised visits, personal expenses.

Another program is available between 30 July - 24 August for those who would like to study and understand our national culture and language. The professional background of the Summer University of Hungarian language and culture is guaranteed by the Department of Hungarian as a Foreign Language, which is the methodological center of teaching Hungarian as a foreign language. 

It brings together interested individuals from diverse geographical, cultural, and academic backgrounds for an intensive course on Hungarian language and culture in Budapest. The multicultural and cross-age composition of the courses provides students with a stimulating environment full of inspiring and enriching dialogues. Only international students are eligible for this program.

The summer university program is built up of three main blocks: 

  • Intensive Hungarian language course
  • Lectures on Hungarian culture, arts, and history
  • Cultural programs / social activities

There are different packages available, depending on the length of students’ stay (2 / 3 / 4 weeks).

CATEGORIES:

  • 4 week-long course  - Eur 600
  • 3-week-long course - Eur 450
  • 2-week-long course - Eur 390

Paula Louw’s story about Szentendre

„As soon as you get off the train, leave the station and start wandering through the cobblestoned streets you can feel Szentendre’s laid-back atmosphere. The streets in the town are filled with brightly coloured buildings, historic churches, sculptures, cafés and interesting shops. One of the most iconic and unique sights of the town center are the large, colourful mismatched lamp shades strewn above the streets.”

One of our Campus Buddy volunteers, Paula Louw from South-Africa has written a wonderful review about this mediterranean-like city, Szentendre, which has many things to offer for travallers. This town has its own unique atmosphere as several folks lived here throughout history.
