The University of Szeged, with a history dating back to 1581, is located in the sunniest city of Hungary, Europe.
The University is the powerhouse of education, science, R&D&I. It is one of the largest research universities in Hungary. There are more than 80 international educational programmes offered for foreign students.
Outstanding professors have worked at SZTE, including the Nobel Prize laureates Albert Szent-Györgyi (1937), who was the first to isolate Vitamin C, and Katalin Karikó (2023), one of the founders of the exceptional mRNA-based vaccine technology.
The University of Szeged holds excellent positions in international rankings. In 2024, according to ARWU, it qualified as the best university in Hungary and was ranked 401-500 globally.
