Eight Hungarian Universities on Times Higher Education ranking

Times Higher Education has recently published its latest ranking list, the Emerging Economies University list, which evaluates institutions on their teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. The new 2020 ranking includes eight Hungarian universities, among which the best results were achieved by Semmelweis University and also includes the Szent István University for the first time.

The Times Higher Education evaluates higher education institutions from the world according to five major performance indicators: teaching and learning environment, quality of researches, number of citations, international outlook and knowledge transfer. Additionally, the ranking also collects data about each institution’s industry relationships and international perspectives.

The 2020 ranking compares 533 universities from 47 emerging countries, which is a significant increase from last year’s 442 evaluated universities. Among the Hungarian higher education institutions, Semmelweis University scored the highest rates and achieved the 70th place on the international scale. The second Hungarian university on the list is the Eötvös Loránd University, ranked 149th, and the third is the University of Pécs with its 176th place on the list. Last but not least, the Szent István University has also debuted on the list with a 351-400 ranking range.
