Not only the Semmelweis University made it to the best 258 European universities but other Hungarian institutions too: the Szent István University was ranked 126-150, the University of Debrecen and the Eötvös Loránd University both ranked in positions 151-200 (after the 50th place there is no exact position, universities appear in a group of 25).
The list started as a pilot project in 2018, the 1st place is owned by the University of Oxford. The ranking works with four pillars:
- Student opinions (recommendations, engagement)
- Resources required for learning (staff-to-student ratio, papers-to-staff ratio)
- Delivering successful outcomes for students (academic reputation, graduation rate)
- Learning environment (gender balance, proportion of international and Erasmus+ students)
The Semmelweis University scored highest in the 4th category.
