Semmelweis University is among the top 50 European universities

According to the new list of Times Higher Education (THE) Semmelweis University is ranked 41. The ranking is based on student surveys and also on data, statistics provided by the universities themselves.

Not only the Semmelweis University made it to the best 258 European universities but other Hungarian institutions too: the Szent István University was ranked 126-150, the University of Debrecen and the Eötvös Loránd University both ranked in positions 151-200 (after the 50th place there is no exact position, universities appear in a group of 25).

The list started as a pilot project in 2018, the 1st place is owned by the University of Oxford. The ranking works with four pillars:

  1. Student opinions (recommendations, engagement)
  2. Resources required for learning (staff-to-student ratio, papers-to-staff ratio)
  3. Delivering successful outcomes for students (academic reputation, graduation rate)
  4. Learning environment (gender balance, proportion of international and Erasmus+ students)

The Semmelweis University scored highest in the 4th category.
